نسل چهارم LTO: نسل چهارم در سال 2007 به بازار ارائه گردید. در نسل چهارم LTO حداکثر حجم ذخیره‌سازی و نیز حداکثر نرخ انتقال دیتا در حالت Native به‌ترتیب برابر با 800 گیکابایت و 120 مگابایت در ثانیه است و همین پارامترها در حالت فشرده، به ترتیب به 6.1 ترابایت و 240 مگابایت در ثانیه رسید. فناوری رمزگذاری دیتا به کمک استاندارد رمزگذاری پیشرفته 256 بیتی (256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard) برای اولین بار در LTO-4 مورد استفاده قرار گرفت. این استاندارد با بهره‌گیری از الگوریتم Galois/Counter Mode، در سطح درایوهای LTO پیاده‌سازی می‌شود و امکان فشرده‌سازی قبل از رمزگذاری را فراهم می‌سازد.
